Old Joy

Comment on digg.com, with respect to the recent story about Google
acquiring DoubleClick for billions of dollars:

"Whenever I read stories such as this, I wish I could go back in time
ten years ago to high school and actually done something with my life
rather than run off and drink in the hills and fire shotguns at
rabbits."

By the way, has anyone seen this film besides me? Best of the decade, I think. And that Oldham has a wonderful new album out.

such stories make me wonder about where I was 10 years ago, too...

the trees are good!

I don't wonder. Drinking in the mountains and shooting at rabbits is fun and, thankfully, no else my age has done anything either.

I'll admit I was prepared to groan about life affirming nature movies when I saw the blurry woodpecker picture but that actually looks pretty good. Sort of Tender Mercies meets Deliverance.

Ariel, I have always had this feeling that I was missing out. But I could care less about the millions, and truth is, the trees *are* good. I can hear Doug groan.

Doug, sometimes I sit around thinking...what does it mean to do something? Make money? Nope. Feed the hungry? Probably. But I am lazy too. How about go hike around and read Keats?

And trust me - this is not a moving nature flick. There is enough cynicism and stark-ness to please a cult of curmudgeons.

I'll definitely look for it. For the record, I like trees. Its people who like trees I'm never sure about.
