The Canons of June
from Hunter S. Thompson writing a review of a really fast motorcycle for some magazine:
"Some people will tell you that slow is good – and it may be, on some
days – but I am here to tell you that fast is better. I’ve always
believed this, in spite of the trouble it’s caused me. Being shot out of
a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube. That
is why God made fast motorcycles, Bubba…."

if speed makes immortal, God must be the fastest of all of us.
hey, where did you find that picture of me??
As a Harley rider, I have trouble making the correlation between being squeezed out of a tube, and riding at all, either fast or slow. Interesting concept though... (ps: I like a slow ride)
-I will behave. I will behave.-
As my nephew says when he's running. "Fast. Go fast!"
Jenna...control yourself, woman! ;)
I have to agree with tsduff, about the correlation between the two things, but I would never assume anyone being able to find red threats to my inner arguments, either :)
by the by...I love that picture, I love horses..so it wasnæt that surprising...but this picture screams rural simplicity to me, and that is what I crave for after a long week in the city...thank God, it's Friday tomorrow!
I sure like Thompson's language, Bubba.
ariel, god is the fastest mortal. I found you in the June cowboy calendar.
ts, I thought I remembered you as harley rider. In my mind, even puttering along on such a machine makes for a quick pace of life.
jh, I'm glad we are in separate time zones.
minka, I know what you mean. Truth is always in the country. Deal with the city folk, but save your ace for the hills.
doug, I remember an interview when Thompson told the NPR lady "I wrote so many letters I shouldn't have, and I never regretted a single one."
LOL @your comment to Doug. Thompson might have never regretted a single one but what about the recipients?
ariel, I can only imagine the reactions by the mailboxes.
isn't that Bubba behind the plow? ;) neva
